DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti (RM)
The lifestyle hotel, overlooking the magnificent Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, is a landmark in Rome’s vibrant Monti district with its panoramic rooftop cocktail bar, all-day bistro, and multiple art exhibitions.
DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti was completely renovated in 2021 in collaboration with the London studio THDP of architect Manuela Mannino and interior designer Nick Hickson who enhanced the history of the former Reale Immobili headquarters by merging it with that of the Monti district.
The soul of the hotel, managed by HNH Hospitality, is, in fact, the bright lobby that recalls the private heart of Roman residences, in which the courtyard surrounded by columns represented the hub of social life, with flooring and decorations inspired by Via Urbana which the building overlooks.
A privileged gateway to the Monti district and all its cultural symbols to experience Rome in its full authenticity.
The common areas are also the protagonists of exhibitions of artists and excellences of Rome and Made in Italy, such as the recent solo exhibition (in the photos) dedicated to the Campanian painter Alfredo Troise or the display of Caltagirone Moorish heads by the company Verus Ceramiche.
Equipped with 133 rooms on 8 floors, DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti offers multiple services including a restaurant, a bar & café, a skybar & terrace, all also open to non-guests of the hotel, as well as various meeting rooms and a gym.
Great attention is paid to the environment as demonstrated by the Green Key certification and a partnership with Treedom for which hotel guests are given a tree in the forest purchased by the HNH group that they can also watch grow by registering on the dedicated portal.
The gem of the structure is the Mùn Rooftop Cocktail Bar on the eighth floor. A beautiful terrace overlooking the Roman roofs and the famous Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the 4 papal basilicas of Rome, which houses the most important Marian icon, the Salus Populi Romani, and where 7 popes are buried.
The bar is ideal for an aperitif or after-dinner drinks based on tapas and cocktails, maybe choosing randomly from the playing cards that represent the 12 signatures created by Marco Favorito and that make up the new “1300 km” menu, each dedicated to a destination located in the 1300 km, precisely, that extend from North to South through Italy, from Bellagio to Taormina.
On the ground floor, there is Mamalia, the hotel’s restaurant, where breakfast is also served, which offers a cuisine based on traditional Italian and Roman recipes revisited in a modern key, and the informal MiT Food & Coffee Brewery with dehors on Piazza dell’Esquilino.
The restaurant stands out for its spectacular open kitchen and great attention to raw materials, as demonstrated by the recent partnership with the Galli Group of Rome, which has represented excellence in the art of butchery for 70 years.
In addition, there are many events organized by DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti, such as Chef sotto le Stelle: dinners set up on the terrace of the 8th floor or at Mamalia in collaboration with some of the most famous Italian chefs, from Moreno Cedroni to Paolo Gramaglia.
During the day, you are spoiled for choice because the hotel overlooks Piazza dell’Esquilino and you can easily reach all the main points of interest in the city on foot, such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum or Piazza di Spagna, perhaps by having the concierge desk book a special experience for you.
The Secret
Rione Monti, the first district of Rome, is a dynamic and eclectic neighborhood that develops around Termini Station and Piazza Vittorio. Initially, it was called Monti (hills) because it included three of the seven hills of the city: the Esquiline, the Viminale, and part of the Quirinale.
